The proposed 1.2 hectare neighbourhood park is located at the corner of Breccia Heights and Escarpment Cres. It also has road frontage on Devonian Way. The park concept plan features an intermediate size soccer field, a basketball court, a play area including play structures for senior, junior and toddlers with swings, a water play splash pad. The park will also include unstructured green space, with landscaping and pathways with benches.
The children’s play area will allow for year round play experience while the water play feature will allow for cool off in the hotter summer months. The playground will also feature a sand play station for toddlers. The park will provide a relaxing green space with trees and shrubs for the community to enjoy.
This will be one of two parks to be built in Richardson Ridge, and will be a complement to the Huntsville Park located at the corner of Arkose and Huntsville Drive. The plans for the Huntsville Park were presented to the public in June of 2014. Huntsville park will features a winter sliding hill, winter rink, and play area with junior, senior and toddler play structures. The park will also include a shade structure with seating and natural areas with pathways.
The plans for the Devonian Way Park will be presented at the Kanata North Townhall meeting on March 23 to be held at 7:00 pm at the Beaverbrook Library, 2500 Campeau Drive. The details for the play equipment at the Huntsville Park will also be shown at that meeting.
