CAMPEAU DRIVE WIDENING

Work started on November 14 to widen the portion of Campeau Drive from Huntmar Drive to Country Glen Way in the Minto Arcadia sub-division. The work on this phase will include underground pipe work and a new roundabout. Preliminary work will wrap-up around mid-December. The additional traffic lanes will eventually provide better access to the Tanger Outlets, Cabela’s, The Carpenters Union Training Facility and the UPS distribution facility once the full connection is made to Terry Fox. This phase only impacts Arcadia and Minto’s proposed retail plaza across from Arcadia.

The second phase of this section of road is scheduled to begin May 2017 and will include; the final layer of gravel, curbs, sidewalks and asphalt paving. The roundabout will be installed on Campeau at Country Glen.

This work is part of the road connection between Didsbury Road and Country Glen. Minto needs to construct a storm-water pond before Campeau can be linked, and are presently finalizing the elevations for their next stage of Arcadia, following which the final road elevations can be completed. Once the storm water pond is completed, the City will be able to go to contract for the rest of the road from Country Glen to Didsbury, creating a much needed link from Huntmar to Terry Fox. I have met with both the City and Minto and they are expediting the work to get construction as soon as possible. I expect an update (with firmer timelines) will be available within the next few months.
