Nov. 6 Public Information Session on Radon Gas

I am once again hosting a Public Information Session on radon gas, with assistance from Health Canada, the City of Ottawa and radon professionals. More details to follow.

When: Monday, November 6th, 7-9 pm
Where: Mlacak Centre, 2500 Campeau Drive, Kanata North

Radon is a colourless, odourless, radioactive gas that occurs naturally in the environment, coming from the natural breakdown of uranium in soils and rocks.  It is widely found in homes across Canada.  It does not tend to be an issue outside, as it dilutes to harmless levels in the atmosphere. However, in a confined space – like a basement – radon can accumulate to high levels.  Exposure to high concentrations of radon can increase a person’s risk of developing lung cancer.

Please let your friends and neighbours know about this information meeting which will both inform you and provide recommendations on actions that can ensure you have a safe level in your home.
