Winter Weather Advisory

Environment Canada has issued a freezing rain warning

 Tuesday, February 7, 2017

Weather conditions

Flurries and snow this afternoon and overnight (up to 8cm)

  • High winds originating from the east (gusting to over 60km/hr)
  • Snow is predicted to change to a wintery mix of ice pellets/freezing rain and rain late Tuesday, continuing into Wednesday morning
  • The type of precipitation may vary depending on temperature
  • Temperatures are expected to rise above the freezing point overnight and plummet back down well below freezing through the day on Wednesday

City preparations

Residents are advised to exercise patience and caution.  Staff are monitoring weather forecasts and are patrolling roads and will continue to patrol roads throughout the event.

Staff are  plowing and salting the priority road and sidewalk network and will continue to plow and salt  overnight and throughout Wednesday, as required.  We will deploy plowing resources over the remainder of the transportation network as necessary as the weather or road conditions change.

We will continue to provide operational updates as weather conditions change and the event progresses.
