This summer, construction will begin on a nature trail on the city-owned open space lands located between Kanata Estates and Richardson Ridge.
At this month’s Town Hall, there will be a presentation and Q&A,on the construction of the Richardson Ridge Nature Trail, by the developer – Regional Group:
When: June 20, 2016 7pm
Where: Kanata Seniors’ Centre, Owen Prince Room
2500 Campeau Drive (Mlacak Centre)
- Is expected to be completed and open this fall
- Is approved as part of the Richardson Ridge subdivision and is designed to respect the existing natural features and mature vegetation in this location
- Will vary in width between 1 and 2 metres and consist of a wood chip foot path, and
- Will require selective tree removal and trimming of hazards that will assist in the ultimate trail alignment.
The initial trail finding work and associated selective tree and hazard removals is expected to begin June 6, 2016 and continue throughout the summer months.
Over the summer, additional work including grading, installation of way finding and trailhead signage will be required to complete the trail. Please see concept plan below. Protective fencing will be installed at the ends of the open space block until the work is complete.
Please refrain from accessing these lands until the trail work is completed and the protective fencing is removed.
