KNL Development Applies for an Overall Benefit Permit Application

KNL Development Applies for an Overall Benefit Permit Application.  Public Comments accepted by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry until end of day February 17th, 2016

Kanata North Lands Development (KNL) has submitted an application under the provincial Endangered Species Act for the upcoming phases of their development north of the Beaver Pond (map below).  The Province of Ontario has now posted a Proposal Notice on the EBR Registry website (http://www.ebr.gov.on.ca/ERS-WEB-External/) stating that the application is open for public review and comment until February 17, 2016.  The EBR Registry Number is 012-6270.  The City is not involved in this matter as it is between KNL and the province.

Permitting under the Endangered Species Act is a provincial process.  Anyone seeking information on the application should contact the provincial representative listed in the notice, Mr. Scott Lee. On request he can provide copies of the details of the proposal, including maps.  Comments may be submitted online through the Registry or directly to Mr. Lee.

The City’s approvals for development are conditional upon KNL receiving the necessary permits under the Endangered Species Act.  The City has worked with KNL to ensure consistency between KNL’s development plans and permit application, and to ensure that the proposed permit activities, if approved, will maintain or enhance the habitat values of the City’s adjacent conservation lands.
