Beer Store empties Christmas Exchange

Dec 19, 9:15am – 5pm
At your local Beer Store

The Christmas Exchange program supports thousands of individuals with assistance every year. Last year, we were able to provide direct assistance to over 12,000 people with over 5,300 children and 1,300 seniors in the form of either a festive food hamper or redeemable gift voucher. This year marks the 100th anniversary of the Christmas Exchange program in Ottawa. In honour of this, we hope to impact the lives of even more families in our community this year.

Every year for one Saturday in December, the Beer Store partners with the Caring and Sharing Exchange (with the support from volunteers, various VIPs, local politicians and city councillors) to encourage patrons to donate their empty beer, wine and liquor bottles. Donation boxes are also placed at each Beer Store to collect cash donations. All the money raised from Running on Empties goes directly toward providing food hampers and redeemable grocery vouchers to those less fortunate during the holiday season.
