The final Wildlife Speaker Series of 2014 is going to be a very exciting one! The topic this time is “Winter is for the Birds” and our speaker is none other than renowned birder and Ottawa Citizen columnist Bruce Di Labio! We are also very excited to announce our Bird Photography Photo Contest!
Many residents enjoy watching, feeding and photographing wild birds. Although many of our local birds fly south for the winter, others remain here year round. Some birds from farther north fly to Ottawa and spend their winters here! This event will focus on Ottawa’s birds, and how they survive (and even thrive!) in the winter. This is the final event to be held in 2014.
Renowned local birder, Bruce Di Labio, will speak about how Ottawa’s birds spend their winters in and around Ottawa. Bruce had led bird watching groups locally and internationally for many years. He also writes about birds in various publications, including the weekly World of Birds column in the Ottawa Citizen.
A nature slideshow showcasing local bird enthusiasts photos, as well as an environmental exposition will be offered for residents to learn more about Ottawa’s wildlife, natural environment and local environmental initiatives. This event is free of charge.
