Marianne Wilkinson

Councillor, Kanata North

July 10 – Light Rail Transit & roads to serve Kanata North

There are two Transportation Committee meetings in July that will deal with issues of importance to Kanata.  On July 5, the criteria and priorities for the Transportation Master Plan will be tabled. You can comment on them until the fall when they will be sent to the Committee for approval as part of the Official Plan. It appears that there will be fewer projects meaning more crowded roads and a longer wait for projects.  I will review it and present issues that affect Kanata North once I receive the report and have an opportunity to review it.

On July 10 at 9:30 a.m. the Transportation Committee will deal with the Environmental Assessment to establish a route for the LRT from Tunneys to Baseline.  This is an essential route for future connections to Kanata.  Public delegations can be made at this meeting with each presenter permitted 5 minutes. I recommend you book a time in advance by contacting Rosemary Theriault, Committee Coordinator, (613) 580-2424 x21624, Rosemary.Theriault@ottawa.ca . For details about the proposed route go to:
