Flu Vaccine Available Across Ottawa

The seasonal flu vaccine is now available from participating physicians and health care providers throughout the city. Ottawa Public Health has distributed 73,630 doses of the influenza vaccine to local vaccine providers and will begin its annual clinics on October 27, 2012. The Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-term Care provided three strains of influenza vaccine for distribution, including the 2009 H1N1 strain, the influenza A/H3N2 strain, and an influenza B strain. Ottawa Public Health will receive enough vaccine for every resident who wishes to be immunized. As we lead up to flu season, remember to take the following precautions:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water, or hand sanitizer
  • Cover your coughs and sneezes with a tissue or your arm, not your hand
  • Stay at home if you are sick
